Model assumptions & calculation basis

This is a functional example, not the as-built FIN007 model. The two utility feeds share an idealised AC bus. Both UPS units share IT demand equally. Cooling and fan walls require utility or generator power. UPS and distribution losses are omitted; fuel limits, switching transients and equipment ramp rates are not modelled.

Two 400 kW thermal chillers use a fixed COP of 4. Each fan wall consumes 25 kW and transports up to 450 kW of cooling. Indoor heat = served IT + fan power. Cooling demand = indoor heat + 100 kW/°C × (room temperature − 24 °C), limited by available chillers and fan walls.

Temperature change = (heat input − heat removed) × hours / 20 kWh/°C. Stored energy changes by battery charging minus discharge. Charging is limited to 40 kW and available source headroom. Facility load = served IT + fans + chiller input + battery charging. PUE is an instantaneous model ratio, not a measured annual performance figure.

The generator is available after 10 simulated seconds. All scenarios use one-second integration steps regardless of playback speed. Selecting a scenario resets time, temperature and battery energy. Reset preserves the selected scenario, demand and fan-failure setting. All values stay within this browser session.
